San Francisco in the Future

This is a series of illustrations playfully imagining a positive future San Francisco.

I depicted a post-global warming, post-fossil fuel, bioregional San Francisco, thriving within a shifted socio-economic paradigm, its geography redrawn by higher sea levels.

Each illustration contains known San Francisco landmarks, some cameos of locally known personalities, and views of the city creatively adapting to the environmental changes.

The illustrations were originally created for the SF Bay Guardian's 2006 "Best of the Bay" issue, comprising the cover and a full page illustration at the beginning of each section of the newspaper.

Each image is also a tongue-in-cheek take on the corresponding newspaper section's name: city living, outdoors & sports, sex & romance, food & drink, shopping, and reader's poll.
